The great outdoors would be even better if home comforts were more readily available and for many of us, that would include a private, quiet, clean place to sit and read the newspaper for ten minutes or so.

Many of us are rather reluctant to "go" in the woods - who knows what will jump up and bite or sting you on the backside or who'll be passing by at the wrong moment (you'd get more privacy in the middle of Oxford Street the Saturday before Christmas than you would at most festivals).

And for those who need to be relaxed when they go to the loo, Portaloos have two major problems. Firstly, they're not exactly the cleanest or most hygienic place to spend time in, especially at festivals when those using them are half cut. Secondly, there's usually a chronic shortage so there's always an enormous queue which will only be ten times longer when you've been in there for a while - and just think of the dirty looks you'll get when the people outside realise just why you took so long.

Shit Box Portable LooSo it comes as a great relief to know that there is a solution, the charmingly named Shit Box. This portable and innovative loo even comes in a rather fetching shoulder bag for easy portability and will get a big thumbs up from many a reluctant camper.

Available in two sizes, the 14” original and a smaller ‘Little Jack’ version for nippers, it’s ideal for festival fans, campers, fishermen and kids caught short on long journeys.

The Shit Box comes flat packed and pops open to become a rigid but comfy loo (which can easily support up to 16 stones / 100kgs). You can use it again and again, without making a mess or gassing everyone within a 5 mile radius as it comes with 10 biodegradable poo bags. Simply pop one inside, do what you have to do, remove the whole shebang, tie up the bag and dispose of it.

This could be a festival life saver.

The Shit Box is available online for £15.99 more

Bag refill pack £1.99
