For anyone brought up reading the Broon's comic strip every Sunday (and there's a lot of us!) Maw and Paw Broon, Granpaw, Daphne, Horace, Joe, Maggie, Hen, the Twins and 'the bairn' are almost part of our extended families.

This is a copy of Maw Broon's very own cookbook, borrowed from the sideboard at No. 10 Glebe Street - first made for her by her mother-in-law when 'Maw' married 'Paw', and added-to over the years with recipes for every day and special days, from friends and neighbours and others that simply caught Maw's eye in "The Sunday Post", or cut-out of the backof a flour bag.

As well as recipes, Maw has clipped lots of little bits and pieces into her Cookbook and the cookbook is exactly as is - stains and all.

This is a great book, written in Scots and packed with traditional Scottish recipes to let you create the food your granny used to make.

And unlike some Scottish cooks we could mention, the only "swear words" you'll find are the odd "Jings" or "Help m'a boab".
